We are getting in early for the London Marathon Events for 2020 volunteering.
For 2020 we have been asked to assist with 3 events, The Big Half, London Marathon and Ride London. You don’t need to have volunteered before and for most roles, you don’t need any special skills or qualifications.
The Big Half – Sunday 1st March 2020
This is a half marathon run around parts of the London Marathon course. Our team operate a crossing point, with another club, at the 200m to go point by Cutty Shark in Greenwich so we do have the best view of the action. It is an early start as we need to be on course by 8:30 am, can also be a little chilly (being March) so you have been warned.
London Marathon – Sunday 26th April 2020
In its 40th year! We have 2 teams on the day, the Mile 18 team, and baggage team.
The Mile 18 team are stationed in the Isle of Dogs so a bit of an early start as we need to get there before the road closures kick in. The team does 3 roles on the day, marshalling along the course, operating a pedestrian crossing and Elite Runner Rescue. We are on the actual course so have a great view of the action, but it is a long day as we need to be in place until around 2 pm.
The baggage team are at the finish reuniting runners with there bags. Much later start but finish much later.
Ride London – Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August
New event for us as volunteers but some club members have done this in the past, as such we don’t at this stage know what roles we will have. Therefore, could be anything from assisting at the start, our on the courses, or at the finish. We also don’t know timings.
If you would like to volunteer for any or all of these events please fill out the form before and we will let you know once we have more information. If you change your mind or need to cancel then that is fine just let us know.
