The Race

The event is suitable for both complete novices and experienced triathletes. The swim will be in the 33m pool and the spectator friendly run route is entirely traffic free through the playing fields and woods behind the leisure centre. We offer a number of different distance for adults and juniors as follows:

  • Seniors (15 and above): 400m (12 lengths) swim and 5K run
  • Juniors (11-15): 200m (6 lengths) swim and 2400m run (Tristars 2 and 3)
  • Juniors (9-10): 100m (3 lengths) swim and 1600m run (Tristars 1)

(15 year olds can choose either the longer junior format or the adult race)

All swims will follow a “snake swim” format. Swimmers are set off at 15-second intervals, and swim up one side of the lane and back down the other. They then duck under the lane rope and continue their way across the pool.

The race is a British Triathlon Federation sanctioned event and will be run in accordance with BTF competition rules, you can download a copy of the rule book here: https://www.britishtriathlon.org/britain/documents/events/competition-rules/british-triathlon-competition-rules-2019.pdf
