We organise training groups on the basis of age . There are training groups for under 11, under 13, under 15, and under 17 categories, based on age on 31 August . This is the same basis on which competition age categories are set.
We run throughout the year so sessions do take place during the school holidays and in all weathers.
This is the main session in which we expect all Junior runners to participate regularly. We meet at Southgate Hockey Centre where juniors must sign in between 9:00am and 9:25am. There is then a 60 minute training session which starts promptly at 9:30am.
Each of the groups is led by a UK Athletics qualified coach and an assistant.
The sessions usually take place around the extensive grounds of Trent Park, or on the sports field or synthetic hockey pitch next to the Hockey Centre. Sessions on the sports field or hockey pitch may include the use of hurdles or other athletic equipment.
For improving and competitive runners, there is a 60 minute training session at 6:30pm, at the QEII athletics track in Enfield.
These are more intensive sessions, and are for under 13 age group and older.
This session is for those runners who are able to complete a continuous run of at least 5km. It is a group run for which the choice of road or park run depends on the time of year. The session starts from Southgate Hockey Centre at 7:15pm sharp.
